As “Lutherans,” we accept and teach the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther that inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century. The teaching of Luther and the Reformers can be summarized in three short phrases: Scripture alone, Faith alone, Grace alone.
SCRIPTURE ALONE The Bible is God’s Word without error, revealing to us salvation through Jesus Christ.
FAITH ALONE! By His suffering and death as the substitute for all people of all time, Jesus purchased and won forgiveness and eternal life for them. God creates faith in Christ and forgives people through Him. The Holy Spirit works in those who hear this Good News and, by believing it, have eternal life.
GRACE ALONE! The forgiveness and salvation given to us through faith in Christ Jesus is not of our doing. It is a gift freely given to those who believe.
Jesus is the Savior of the world. Jesus is the way to salvation, the only truth and through Him, true life comes to all. “We would like to see Jesus” (John 12:21), said those who spoke to the first disciples. We still believe that all those who enter our doors should see Jesus.
